MER Apartments are located on an island called Sovalye ( Megri), which is at the
entrance of
Fethiye bay from the Mediterranean Sea. First
Romans and thenPersians,Byzantines
and finally Knights of Rhodes used to live there until the 14th century;
this is where its name comes from. Today, still there are many ruins left from
those times,
both on the surface and in the sea. A hill crowned by the ruins of the crusader
fortress built by the Knights of Rhodes overlooks the little port. There are 65 houses on the island mostly owned by famous people as journalists,
parliament members, film producers and so on; used as summer houses and the
population reaches up to 400 in the high season. There is a bar and a restaurant
where you can have your drink or have your dinner while you are enjoying the sunset view.
